Coltan is a metallic ore from which the elements niobium and tantalum are extracted. Tantalum, derived from Coltan, is a key component in the capacitors found in virtually every electronic device — from smartphones and laptops to medical equipment and aerospace systems. As global demand for electronics and electric vehicles accelerates, Coltan has become one of the most strategically important minerals on earth.
Tantalum capacitors are irreplaceable in miniaturized electronics. There is currently no commercially viable substitute, making reliable, ethically sourced Coltan supply a critical priority for technology manufacturers worldwide.
